How to Find Subscriptions Charged Through PayPal
Streaming, cloud storage, or a website plan you pay through PayPal can renew quietly. Open PayPal yourself to see automatic payments and linked subscriptions, then record renewal dates you want to keep in one private list on Android. Smart Bill Reminder does not connect to PayPal or read your account.
What PayPal lists as a subscription
PayPal calls these automatic payments. The same thing may also appear as a subscription, billing agreement, or recurring payment in Help. It means you saved PayPal as the way to pay a company or service, including charges scheduled in advance.
Only plans you set up through PayPal show in these lists. A card charge that never used PayPal at checkout belongs on your bank statement instead: check subscriptions on a bank card. Google Play billing is a separate path: find subscriptions in Google Play.
Official wording and paths are in PayPal Help: automatic payments and manage subscriptions.
Find automatic payments on the PayPal website
Sign in at paypal.com. You can also open paypal.com/billing/subscriptions after login.
- Go to Settings (gear icon).
- Click Payments.
- Select Subscriptions and saved businesses or Automatic payments (labels can vary by account).
- Select a company or service from the list to view details.
On that page PayPal lets you cancel the automatic payment and change the backup payment method. Contact details for that company are shown on the agreement if you need them.
Find linked subscriptions in the PayPal app
In the PayPal app, PayPal lists linked subscriptions under the menu:
- Open the app menu.
- Under Manage finances, tap Subscriptions.
- Review each linked company or service. Tap Manage to update the payment method (all at once or one at a time).
If you do not see the plan under Subscriptions, check Linked Businesses. PayPal notes some entries may be classified there instead.
To remove PayPal as the payment method for a company, PayPal's cancel guide uses: Menu → Subscriptions or Linked Businesses → select the entry → Account → Unlink → confirm. See how to cancel recurring subscriptions.

When a charge is missing from PayPal
PayPal only shows agreements billed through PayPal. If you paid the company directly with a card or bank transfer, nothing will appear here.
- New links may take a few hours to show in the app, or until the first payment goes through (PayPal Help).
- Confirm the plan is still active and that checkout used PayPal, not only a card on file elsewhere.
- In the app, open Linked Businesses if Subscriptions looks empty.
- If the charge is on your card but not in PayPal, use the statement method: check subscriptions on a bank card.
- If you expected a Play-billed app plan, see subscription not showing in Google Play.
Unlink is not always a full cancel. PayPal says stopping payment through PayPal may not close the underlying subscription with the company. Contact that company if you want the service ended, not just PayPal unlinked.
Record renewal dates without linking a bank
After you know what still renews through PayPal, put the dates you care about on your phone yourself. Smart Bill Reminder does not read PayPal, does not import PayPal subscriptions, and does not cancel agreements for you.
- On Home, tap +.
- Choose Add subscriptions for known services: pick from the catalog, set amount, billing day, and cycle, then confirm. Free.
- Or choose New bill for one next renewal: title, amount, due date, then Save. Free.
- Optional: open Settings → Bill reminders so unpaid due dates can notify you. No bank login required.
You type what PayPal showed you. Detection later only groups bills you already saved; it does not mean “found in PayPal.”
Quick answers
Does Smart Bill Reminder connect to PayPal?
No. You open PayPal on the web or in the PayPal app yourself. Smart Bill Reminder does not connect to PayPal, read your PayPal account, or import PayPal subscriptions.
If I unlink PayPal, is the subscription canceled?
Not always. PayPal says unlinking stops future charges to your PayPal account, but that may not cancel the underlying subscription or contract with the company. Contact that company to close the service if you want it fully stopped.
Why is a charge missing from PayPal?
PayPal only lists payments set up through PayPal. If you never saved PayPal at checkout, the plan will not appear. New links may take a few hours or until the first payment. PayPal also suggests checking Linked Businesses in the app if the entry is not under Subscriptions.
